Here are some guidelines for having a secure Zoom Meeting:
- Zoom Display Name – Use your real name and not an alias, so people know who you are.
- Log into Zoom – It’s best to be logged into Zoom when you host or participate in a Meeting.
- Some meetings may only allow authenticated Zoom users to join.
- Host control functions are only available if you are logged into the meeting as the host.
- Passwords – Make sure your meetings require a password to join.
- The meeting password will be included in the Zoom meeting invite.
- When users join a meeting, they will be prompted to enter the password from the invite.
- Advanced Options – ‘Enable Waiting Room’. (Host feature)
- The Waiting Room feature allows the host to control when a participant joins the meeting.
- As the meeting host, you can admit attendees one by one or hold all attendees in the waiting room and admit them all at once.
- Manage Participants – As the meeting host, check the participants list to make sure only people you invited are attending your meeting.
- Lock the Meeting – As the meeting host, you can lock your meeting once all participants have joined. (This is found under ‘Manage Participants’ and the ‘More’ Option.)
- Remove participants – As the meeting host, you can remove people from your meetings who do not belong. They will not be able to rejoin the meeting.
- Content Sharing – The host can control who can/can’t share screen. (This is found under the chevron next to ‘Share Screen’ in ‘Advanced Sharing Options’.)
- Cloud Recordings of Meetings – Will be deleted after 5 days.
- Please download your recordings to OneDrive or SharePoint.
- You must change the file name. DO NOT USE THE DEFAULT.
- Meeting should only be recorded on the Zoom cloud temporarily due to space restrictions. You must download them ASAP.
